Vietri sul Mare is the eastern doorway to the Amalfi Coast. Coming from Salerno, Vietri is the first location you encounter; a little gem of the Amalfi Coast that gives you a very special welcome. The popular beach of Marina di Vietri, with the Torre Crestarella, whose park gives access to another little beach. Vietri sul Mare is beaches, a natural scenery for long and healthy walks, breathtaking panorama and historical traditions such as the Ceramic production. The colourful Ceramica of Vietri renowned all over the World, is a tradition of the 15th century. Today the Ceramic artworks are also an attraction for tourists and visitors coming to the Amalfi Coast. Don’t miss the chance to visit a local ceramic factory and assist or take part to the ceramic process so that you can make by yourself a personalised ceramic work. You can choose a full immersion course which will give you all the basic knowledge, theory and practice, to make and decor the ceramic.

A bit away from the sea, surrounded by a wild natural scenery, you can explore paths and go hiking. The paths that connect the high fractions of Raito, Albori with natural sources (Source of Caesar) and the fraction of high Dragonea with the valley of Cava de’ Tirreni and the Abbey. Follow this path and you will come to a junction that leads to the paths of Avvocatella and Advocate. The latter is called “Path of the Gods” because you can enjoy divine and incomparable views. Eventually you will get to the Pertuso Mount above Positano.
Discover the Abbey of Cava de’ Tirreni, just a few minutes away. Years ago the monks of the Abbey used Marina di Vietri as a commercial port and they would trade the materials required to make boats. In fact, Marina di Vietri was mostly populated by shipwrights, who were craftsmen able to cut and shape the wood needed to build ships and frames of purse seine, which were used for fishing. A typical boat was the “crop”, il gozzo, which is still used today on the Amalfi Coast.
